Ashley Copeland, LCMFT

Ashley Copeland is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT). Ashley has provided therapy for individuals, couples, and families at the University of Maryland Center for Healthy Families and Greenbelt CARES. She treats children, adolescents, and adults for various presenting problems, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, difficulties with emotion regulation, acting-out behaviors, ADHD, and social skills deficits. As a family therapist, she values improving family connection, facilitating communication, and creating new patterns of interaction that foster safety and promote health and well-being.

Treatment Approach

Ashley approaches therapy as a collaborative effort between client and therapist and strives to create a supportive, engaging, non-judgmental environment for her clients. She works to develop new, positive experiences and understanding within the therapy space that clients can utilize in their everyday life.

Education

Ashley received her Master’s Degree in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is trained in a variety of approaches to therapy, including Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Theraplay, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy. Ashley is a certified facilitator for Prepare/Enrich, an evidence-based approach to relationship enhancement.
