Approach to Therapy
Erin’s approach to therapy is inherently collaborative. She has training and expertise in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral, play therapy, family systems, mindfulness, and attachment models. Erin takes pride in working with her clients to create a treatment plan that will allow for positive and long-lasting change using appropriate evidence-based therapeutic models.
Trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Erin uses this evidence-based practice, when appropriate, to help children and adolescents who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events. Through TF-CBT, Erin has helped children and parents learn and apply new skills to help process thoughts and feelings related to traumatic life events; manage and resolve upsetting thoughts, emotions, and behaviors related traumatic life events; and enhance safety, growth, parenting skills, and family communication.
Particularly skilled in helping school-aged children with test anxiety, Erin has developed a curriculum, based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to help students challenge their negative thoughts about tests, uncouple their self-worth with their test scores, and ultimately lower their level of test anxiety.
