Jingshuai Du, Ph.D., LGMFT

Jingshuai (Jing) Du is a Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT) who provides therapy for children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families.  Before joining Jonah Green and Associates, she provided individual, couple, and family therapy at the Family Center at Kansas State University for three years and at the Marriage and Family Counseling Center in Beijing, China, for two years. Jing’s areas of interest and expertise include depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, life transition, trauma, attachment, adoption, and couple and family communication.

Jing is an LGBTQ and sexual minority-affirming therapist certified by the Asperger/Autism Network (AANE) to treat neuro-diverse individuals. As a Chinese national who has lived in the U.S. for six years, she strives to provide culturally sensitive treatment and is keen to provide therapy for diverse populations, including interracial couples and families.

Treatment Approach

Jing approaches therapy from an attachment perspective. Her work is grounded in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) – an attachment-based model that provides a map for healing and closeness. Jing believes that human connections are the foundation of happiness and health. She strives to help people deepen their relationships with themselves and those who matter most to them. She may combine other therapeutic approaches with her attachment lens, including Narrative Therapy, Experiential Therapy, CBT, and solution-focused therapy. Jing sees her clients as unique, growing human beings with internal strengths and resources, creating a safe environment for them to be seen, heard, and understood.

Education

Jing finished her master’s degree in Social Work from Peking University in Beijing, China, in 2014, and obtained a master’s in Couples and Family Therapy from Kansas State University in 2016. She has since completed advanced training in Emotion-Focused Couple Therapy (Externship and Core Skills), Emotional-Focused Individual Therapy, and Neuro-Diverse Couple Therapy. In 2022 Jing completed her Ph.D. in Family Science from the Department of Family Science at the University of Maryland.
