Jingshuai (Jing) Du is a Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT) and a neurodiverse couple therapist certified by Asperger/Autism Network (AANE). Before joining Jonah Green and Associates in 2022, she provided individual, couple, and family therapy at the Family Center at Kansas State University for three years and at the Marriage and Family Counseling Center in Beijing, China, for two years. Jing’s areas of interest and expertise include depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, life transition, trauma, and couple and family communication. She is also a neurodiversity-affirming therapist interested in working with neurodiversity issues (e.g., autism spectrum) in children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families. As a Chinese national who has lived in the U.S. for almost six years, she is also interested in providing therapy for Asian families and populations and interracial couples. She strives to provide culturally sensitive treatment for diverse individuals.
Treatment Approach
Jing approaches therapy from an attachment perspective. Specifically, her work is grounded in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) – An attachment-based model that provides a map for healing, closeness, and connection. Jing believes that relationships and connections are the foundation of happiness and health. She strives to help people deepen their relationships with themselves and those who matter most to them (e.g., their children, parents, or partners). Complimentarily, she uses other therapy approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and solution-focused therapy models. Jing sees her clients as unique human beings with enormous internal strength and resources. In therapy, Jing works to create a safe environment to allow clients to be seen, heard, understood, and grow in their lives.
Education
Currently, Jing is a Ph.D. candidate in Family Science at the Department of Family Science at the University of Maryland. She finished her master’s degree in Social Work from Peking University in Beijing, China, in 2014. Her experiences in China motivated her to obtain a master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Kansas State University in 2016. She has finished advanced training in Emotion Focused Couple Therapy (Externship and Core Skills), Emotional Focused Individual Therapy and Neurodiverse couple therapy after her master’s degree in couple and family therapy.
