Paul Higgins, JD, LMSW

Paul is a Licensed Masters Social Worker who joined Jonah Green and Associates (JGA) as a psychotherapist in 2022. Before joining JGA, he provided therapy at MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Program and interned at JGA as part of his clinical training. Paul works with individual clients of all ages facing a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, behavioral concerns, difficulties coping with life stressors, emotion regulation, self-esteem issues, and relationship difficulties. He also provides couples and family therapy.

Before becoming a therapist, Paul served as an arbitrator and attorney. These prior experiences inform his clinical work. As an arbitrator, Paul worked collaboratively with opposing parties to solve conflicts. As an attorney, he developed empathic connections with his clients and advocated on their behalf.

Treatment Approach

Paul brings a warm, supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative style to therapy. He uses various therapeutic approaches based on the client’s needs, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based, humanistic, mindfulness, and attachment-based models. For work with families and children, Paul believes in the power of play therapy, building attachment bonds, and restoring family cohesion and healthy relationships.
