Peter also has significant experience working with children, teenagers, and families who have survived abuse and neglect as well as those who have gone through separation and divorce. Peter was a therapist at the Reginald S. Lourie Center for Infants and Young Children from 2008-2014. He also worked with the Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers Program and has a comprehensive understanding of the impact of mental health on development, particularly in early childhood.
Approach to Therapy:
Peter provides a safe and supportive environment for children and families to express their feelings in a non-judgmental setting. Peter has a family-centered approach, in which he helps parents to better understand the basis of their child’s behavior problems so that they can more effectively respond, reducing negative behaviors and increasing family cohesion. Peter uses talk and play to help children and families communicate more effectively, and helps them to safely and appropriately express feelings at home, school, and in social situations. Peter is able to use a variety of methods in therapy, including cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and therapeutic play activities to help children and families attain a closer and more fulfilling bond.
Peter received a Masters in Social Work from Catholic University’s School of Social Service and a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University.
