Shannon Golub, LMSW

Shannon is a licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) providing therapy to a diverse clientele, including pre-adolescents, teenagers, adults, families, and couples. She specializes in helping clients ages ten and above with challenging behaviors, anxiety, ADHD, depression, life transitions, and relational issues.
Before being a therapist, Shannon spent many years managing advertising and marketing campaigns, fundraising for non-profit groups and causes, and volunteering at myriad organizations serving disadvantaged youth and other populations in need. These experiences inform her therapeutic style, which includes harnessing her creativity to find unique and effective ways of helping people from all backgrounds find a way to feel and live better.
Shannon is the mother of three teenage/young adult boys. She believes strongly in the importance of family therapy as a component of individual healing when working with youth and young adult clients. Her training and experience have included much family therapy work, including her completion of a comprehensive certification program in family therapy at JGA.

Treatment Approach

Shannon employs a collaborative strengths-based approach that integrates various therapeutic methods and interventions. Pulling from her training in evidence-based modalities, including CBT, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems, and Solution Focused Therapy, she tailors her interventions to meet each client’s unique needs. Her person-centered style creates a space where clients can fully explore their authentic selves without judgment and harness their inner strengths to achieve their therapy and life goals.

Education

Shannon earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore, where her classes and training focused on evidence-based clinical modalities and individual, couples, and family therapy techniques. She completed internships at The Foundation School in Rockville and Jonah Green and Associates as part of this training. She earned her undergraduate degree in Business at Miami University.
